Childhood Favs 2
I LOVE Kid's Shows, if you couldn't tell already? I feel as though a lot of my childhood is a daze and I can't remember TV shows that I used to watch. One show that does stand out to me though was The Jetsons.
Man, I loved that show! I don't know whether it was the fact of it being far into the future that excited me as a child or whether it was just the characters? It's definitely one I remember watching frequently though. I honestly cannot think of many cartoons that I used to watch. Oh wait! Tom and Jerry, yes! I loved that show and I still do in fact, I caught a glimpse of it on TV the other day but nothing beats the old school version (of anything really!).[caption id="attachment_206" align="alignnone" width="228"] Tom and Jerry[/caption]
Speaking of shows that just aren't the same..I am disgusted by Banana's in Pyjamas. This show premiered in 1992 (1 year after I was born) so I grew up watching it. I wonder how the ratings would change if the younger generation today watched the "new"Banana's in Pyjamas compared to the Original would rate. I bet, ratings would be higher if they were to watch the original. How awesome was it to watch REAL LIFE Banana's and a REAL life sized Rat? (or so I thought when I was little).[caption id="attachment_207" align="aligncenter" width="229"] CGI has taken over Banana's in Pyjamas, changed in 2011[/caption] [caption id="attachment_208" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Original Banana's in Pyjamas[/caption]
One more that comes to mind is Johnson and Friends, this show was so much fun! Now, after talking about Banana's in Pyjamas it made me think whether they still play Johnson and Friends and if so, have the converted to CGI? I did some research and thanks to Wikipedia I was able to find some information. The show premiered in 1990 with seasons running through to 1995. The show was last aired in 2002. Did you watch this show? (comment below)
Thinking, thinking...maybe you guys could refresh my brain? What TV shows did you LOVE to watch as a kid? (Comment below)

What about the Pollywaffle? 6
[polldaddy poll=8620663]So, it has come to my attention that a lot of people don't know about certain Chocolate Bars and Sweets that have been discontinued over the years. Maybe we are in denial that our FAVORITE Chocolate bar is no longer being produced?
I have been doing a little bit of research and below is a list of just a few of our favorite Chocolate Bars that are no longer being produced.
Top of the list has to be the famous Pollywaffle. This Chocolate bar was made by Nestle and was the last production was on the 23rd of November 2009. Such a yummy Chocolate bar, I remember it well. For those that weren't lucky enough to try one; a waffle wafer tube filled with marshmallow covered in milk chocolate. My mind keeps telling me that their was a Polly Waffle Ice Cream too! No one believes me and I cannot find any evidence to prove that their was a Pollywaffle Ice Cream, if you remember this too comment below. So, Nestle changed the recipe early 2009 and the reason they stopped production was because of poor sales, could it have been due to the recipe change?
I couldn't find too much information on the Wonka Bar but I know alot of people still beleive it is being produced. That is, the original Wonka Bar that was produced. It was discontinued in 2010 once again to poor sales. This Chocolate bar was also made by Nestle. Do you remember the Wonka Bar?
Ahh the Bertie Beetle, such a great little Chocolate. The Wonka Candy Company is owned and licensed by Nestle. Bertie Beetles were first produced in 1963 and were sold in shops until 1970. Nestle made an exclusive agreement to showbags marketing that Bertie Beetles would only be sold at Shows and Exhibitions in showbags.
MILO CHOCOLATE BAR
This was my Childhood favourite! I would go shopping with my Pop every Friday night and we were allowed 1 Lolly or Chocolate and it was always a toss up between the Milo Chocolate Bar or Ferrero Rocher. I have contacted Nestle to ask of the Year this was made and the year it was discontinued, I am sure it was 2003 that it was discontinued, keep an eye on the comments of my blog for when i hear back from Nestle. Not many people know about this Chocolate bar but it was basically compact Milo covered in Chocolate. I must have loved this one because I occasionally eat Milo out of the tin (anyone else guilty of this?)
So, do we notice a little pattern here? Most of the yummy treats that have been discontinued are all made by Nestle, I wonder why? What are your thoughts?

Christmas in a Sweet Shop 0It has been a while since my last blog so I thought I should stop being lazy and write another! I am not really being lazy, I have been extremely busy with getting everything organised for Christmas! Yay it is only 41 days until Christmas #youarewelcome So I thought I would tell you a little about what is happening at Joy's this Christmas. The DIY Baubles and Bon Bons were a huge hit last year so I have decided to do these again, aren't they a treat! I can fill these with any Lolly that will fit in the hole! I have over 10 different Bon Bon designs this year and these can also be filled with anything! You can pick a different colour Bon Bon for each guest at your Christmas lunch or you can make them all the same, choice is yours ! [caption id="attachment_141" align="aligncenter" width="225" class=" "] DIY Baubles[/caption] I have spent many hours looking for some unique gifts this year but I did not have much luck! It seems suppliers are all about small knick knack items rather then funky unique gifts. Here are a few things that I have in store: [caption id="attachment_146" align="aligncenter" width="225"] Melba's Rocky Road[/caption] [caption id="attachment_147" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Christmas Ornaments filled with Bubblegum[/caption] Of course, it would not be Christmas without Gingerbread Men! These guys are De-Lish, I am stocking normal, Dairy free and Chocolate - YUM! [caption id="attachment_143" align="aligncenter" width="224" class=" "] Gingerbread Men[/caption] Pop Culture items have been very popular and are slowly taking over the Candles in the shop (sorry Candle lovers). Our life is Pop Culture; we read it, watch it, wear it, play with it and love it! It seems some people though are confused with the term "Pop Culture" I am finding people think Pop Culture is just limited to a Pop Vinyl figurine (photo below). Here is Wikipedia's description of Pop Culture: Popular culture (often short "Pop culture") is the entirety of ideas, perspectives, attitudes, memes, images, and other phenomena that are within the mainstream of a given culture, especially Western culture of the early to mid 20th century and the emerging global mainstream of the late 20th and early 21st century. Heavily influenced by mass media, this collection of ideas permeates the everyday lives of the society. [caption id="attachment_148" align="aligncenter" width="300" class=" "] Princess Bubblegum Pop Vinyl[/caption] Their is also gift wrapping, gift boxes, gift hampers and gift certificates! I have tried to find something for everyone this Christmas, more stock will be arriving within the next 2 weeks. Majority of our Christmas stock will be here by the end of November. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas xx

A few of my favourite things... 0So I had a quiet morning in the shop and I wondered around the shop thinking of a new blog post to write about so I thought, why not share with you some my favourite things in the shop... It would only seem rite that I LOVE everything in the shop but the honest truth is that I don't. I cannot stand anything that is flavoured Cherry, Coconut or Cinnamon (Yuk!). What I do love is anything flavoured Grape, Strawberry and Watermelon - I guess I am more into Sweet tastes ;-) [caption id="attachment_131" align="alignnone" width="300"] This is me (had to close my eyes because it looked funny)[/caption] My first favourite is "The Red Balloon" Candy. This lollipop is so delish (flavoured Raspberry). The Red Balloon are Candy Artisans based in Melbourne. I stock their Lollipops, Rock Candy, Skulls and Printa Lollipops. Amazing!
[caption id="attachment_138" align="alignnone" width="225"] Freckleberry[/caption] Another favourite (I cannot stop eating these!) are Freckleberry's Chocolate coated Marshmallows. The best thing of all is they use Belgian Chocolate which is to die for! I could eat these Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner - nothing wrong with that, rite? If you have not tried Galaxy chocolate yet, do yourself a favour and buy 2! I am a dedicated Lindtt lover but Galaxy definitely takes the cake. Its smooth texture definitely leaves you wanting more. Galaxy is actually DOVE Chocolate but branded as Galaxy in the UK. My favourite is the Cookie Crumble - Yum! I am bias when I say I love the Soy Wax Melts as I make these but they smell so good you could eat them! I have been making Soy Wax Melts for almost 3 years and I think I have almost perfected them! Musk Sticks is one of our top sellers but my favourites are Salted Caramel, Bubblegum and Grape. I LOVE making Mint Patty it makes my work area smell very Minty ;-) I must give a bundle of thanks to Jelly Belly. Jelly Belly was the very first brand that I wanted to have in the shop all because of my addiction. I first came across Jelly Belly at the Sugar Station in Melbourne and I could not get enough! When I first made the decision to open a shop, I planned to have my handmade candles and Jelly Belly - that was it! My favourite flavour is Grape (can you see a trend?) [caption id="attachment_133" align="alignnone" width="225"] Appleberry[/caption]
Bathalicious! I LOVE these Bath Bombs, they not only smell great but they also leave the skin feeling fresh!Chocolate Coated Strawberries and Cream - nothing else needs to be said! So these are just a few of my favourites, feel free to share your favourites on Instagram by using #joysdelights or let us know in the comments below Tara
